So, I took a chance on this book and was very glad that I did. This book is a great attempt at a first publication and I was not disappointed. The only reason I gave this book a 4 instead of a 5 star review is based only on the editing, there are a number of typos (which honestly doesn't bug me as much as it seems to bug others) and in a couple of chapters the name of a minor character flip flops a number of time. I would blame this more on the editing process than the author, as it should have been picked up by the editor and corrected prior to publication. With that said, I enjoyed the story and the character development. For those turned off by the reviews complaining about this being a work of Christian fiction - please do not let that dissuade you from this book. It is not preachy nor overpowering and works well into the storyline.

I really enjoyed the authors knowledge of the Galveston area, including the history of the UTMB medical complex. Being from the Gulf Coast myself, it felt like being home, since I haven't been able to move back since evacuating from Rita.

I won't go into the story, as there are a few reviews here that give a breakdown of the story, but I will say this book is worth taking a chance on. I've paid 14 bucks on Kindle editions of well known authors who's writing (again, not regarding the poor editing) did not match the caliber of writing seen here.. I'm not so patiently waiting for the next two books :)

Warriors Of The Cross Warrior #1 eBook T R Graves McKinney McKinney Cassie McCown Reviews

What a great book. I couldn't wait to pick it up and start reading again. Wished there wasn't anything such as real life so that I could have read it all in one setting. I would give this book 4 1/2 stars, but that isn't an option.

There were a few errors where the editor missed, but not enough to make me drop the rating on the book. Would definately read this author again.
She's far too kind to her characters. The story is engaging enough and I did enjoy it, but the main characters are either perfect bronze celestial beings (who say the exact things women want to hear) or overweight obnoxious nerds. I would have liked to see a few more nuanced characters without quite so much of the stilted dialog.

The story proceeds at a good clip, but there is very little tension until the end. The ending scene is well written -- personally, I prefer to see the tension build up until the end. On the other hand, it does make for a different sort of read which is engaging in its own right.
This was an absolutely wonderful read. I have not reviewed any of the over 100 books I've downloaded so far, for me to review means I was extremely pleased! Warriors of the Cross was fast paced with just enough romance, bonds of friendship and family, and suspense to keep me up late enough I had to take a nap the next day with my kids. Allie is a wonderful person who is so kind, caring, loving, and strong. Brody is gorgeous and just mysterious enough to leave you wanting more of him. Clark is a great friend that anyone would be extremely lucky to have. The Sisters were wonderful and I would love to get to know them a little better. Overall, I genuinely loved this book and would have paid full price but got lucky and downloaded it for free. I'm glad I took the advice of a friend and checked out the free books to find this great read. I'm excited and antsy waiting for the release of Guardians of the Cross that will hopefully be real soon.
I really enjoyed this story and am looking forward to book two in the series. I rated it four stars partly (well, mostly) because of sloppy editing. It's too bad that the book was not proofread by someone who knows the difference between the words cognoscent and cognizant, chose and choose, to and too, etc. There were various other spelling/grammatical errors fairly regularly throughout the book. The other reason this story does not get five stars from me is that Allie is crying is nearly every scene. Of course I cannot speak for anyone but myself and people with whom I am closely associated, but people in general are just not that emotionally demonstrative. Otherwise, this story rocks. There is romance without "smut," a beautiful young woman following her dream and well on her way to reaching her goals, two hot guys, both of whom love the girl, and a couple of really mean-spirited girls. Allie loves both of the men, but in different ways, and by the end of the story it is clear who she will choose but, both are good guys and I found myself rooting for either one at various times.

All in all, this is a charming tale that makes for a good weekend read. It is suspenseful, has a lot of sexual tension, acknowledges mankind's need for spirituality/religion, all of which leaves the reader wanting more of the story, but without the endpoint of this installment being such a cliff hanger that it is unsatisfying.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit. The paranormal and mysterious were definately different here than in a lot of other books that I have read. I felt that Allison was a very non-confrontational or no-drama type of person that avoids strife or discord at all costs. She didn't even have the heart to make her roomate jealous(not on purpose), even if it meant she couldn't bring up her boyfriend in conversation or bring him over. Plus, if she had truly paid attention to what she was hearing and seeing(dreaming and feeling from others) she would have been more prepared for everything that she felt blindsided by later on. I'm trying hard not to put in any spoilers!! If I fail in any way-Please, post a comment and I'll take that part out. lol! The characters are written well and the mystery, which we get a few small glimpses of(same w/the paranormal), is developing well. One thing I really don't like is how the book ended. It felt, to Me, like I was in the middle of a chapter and the last five pages were missing. I will, of course, continue the series as soon as I can, but I do like a little more resolution to my books than this one provided. However...I am hooked enough to come back for seconds and that, I think, should be reason enough to give this book 4 stars. I'd go 5 but the ending and the initial "wimpiness" of the main character....well, I just can't. Maybe next book.
Happy Reading.
