I love the great recipe's that are in here. It really takes me back to when my great grandma cooked for us as kids!
Has great cakes and down home cooking. You need to understand basic cooking instruction to enjoy it. Simple but guaranteed .
This is a plain and simple little book. There are no color photos and no outlandish dishes that you will never try. This book is about good, honest and hearty food. It's an excellent first cookbook and makes a fine addition to a serious cook's collection as well.
It was purchased for a Christmas gift and the person really liked the book.
With just about everything she cooked, my Dad would ask my Mom "Is this from scratch?" So the title of this book made me smile. The recipes, however, made my husband smile. So often, we try too hard with food. Sometimes it's best to go back to basics and this book has GREAT basic recipes that are very easy to follow. I'm so pleased with it that we're buying several copies as Christmas gifts for family. Good job!!!
